Yodobashi Camera is the electronics store every traveler seems to visit — floors of cameras, lenses, headphones, rice cookers and toys. Its online shop, Yodobashi.com, sells much of the same range. Whether you are planning a trip or already here, ordering online and collecting at your hotel sounds ideal. Then come the Japanese checkout, the model numbers that differ by one letter, and the question of whether the thing will even work at home.
01What to know about Yodobashi.com
- Much of the store’s range, online. Cameras, lenses, audio, kitchen appliances, beauty gadgets, toys and everyday goods. Some items, such as many overseas-voltage models, are sold mostly in stores.
- Delivery fee. Yodobashi.com says it delivers its orders free of charge, with extra fees possible for some large items to Okinawa and remote islands. This is the shop’s own delivery charge; our hotel delivery fee (¥1,000) is separate.
- Japanese-only checkout. The checkout asks for a name in katakana and a Japanese phone number, and the forms are in Japanese.
- Store pickup. Yodobashi.com lets customers collect online orders at Yodobashi Camera stores, but the order still goes through the same Japanese checkout.
02Where it can go wrong
- The wrong model. Japanese electronics often come in versions whose model numbers differ by a letter or two — color, region or bundle. Send the exact model number, or a photo of the shelf label.
- Voltage. Many Japanese appliances, such as hair dryers and rice cookers, are made for 100V. Check the rated voltage before you buy — our small-electronics guide explains what to look for.
- Foreign card declined. Since 2025, most Japanese online shops use 3-D Secure — an extra identity check by your card issuer, such as a one-time code sent to your phone. If your card is not set up for it, or the code does not reach you while you are abroad, the payment can fail at the last step, and the cart can be lost.
- The hotel decides. Whether a parcel is held depends on the hotel. A box that arrives before check-in, or under a name that does not match the reservation, is often refused.
- Missed-delivery slip. If the courier misses you, the slip, the phone menu and the redelivery website are all in Japanese.

03How it works with soracross
A Yodobashi link, a model number or a photo of the label, plus your hotel name, the name on your reservation and your check-in and check-out dates. You can do this before you leave home.
After you pay and before we buy, we confirm the exact model and, for appliances, the rated voltage. If it will not suit your country, we tell you before buying; refunds follow our Terms of Service.
Item price + our service fee (10% of the item price + ¥1,000 per order, and +5% on the part over ¥10,000) + hotel delivery ¥1,000 per parcel (a shop’s own shipping, if any, is included in the item price). Nothing to pay until you approve it. If you added front-desk pre-notice, we confirm with your hotel after you pay and before we buy.
Show your room number or passport. If a delivery is missed, we arrange redelivery for you.

If you don't enter a product URL yourself, a +¥1,000 item sourcing fee applies per item.
